This program is designed for advanced conductors who are interested in further developing their skills under the close mentorship of one of our esteemed conductors. The La Musica Lirica Conductor Mentorship Program will allow students to hone their skills in the areas of score study and interpretation, accepted performance practices, nuanced expression as intended by the opera's composer, Italian language, baton technique, and effective rehearsal/orchestra/singer management.
The program provides invaluable performance and leadership opportunities. Conductors in this program, who are thoroughly prepared, will receive an opportunity to conduct the full orchestra during part of the dress rehearsal, conduct the cover show(with piano accompaniment), manage and work with the opera's chorus, set up and facilitate singer coachings as directed, and run rehearsal as requested by the primary conductor/maestro. In addition to these responsibilities, students will attend an intensive (up to 15 hours weekly) Italian language course taught by native speakers during the first four weeks of the program.
Placement in the Conductor Mentorship Program is based on a candidate's interview, resume, letter of recommendation, and a video of an applicant's previous performance work. The video should demonstrate the candidate's best technical and musical skills.
Tuition for the Conductor Mentorship Program is $3,500 and includes:
