Dr. Migeun Chung is a distinguished collaborative pianist and vocal coach whose dynamic career spans opera, musical theater, and art song across North America and Europe. She currently serves as Lecturer in Collaborative Piano at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where she teaches curriculum in piano accompanying and provides individualized coaching for vocalists and instrumentalists, with a focus on collaborative technique, stylistic interpretation, and rehearsal techniques.

She was selected as a member of the elite Collaborative Artist Division at La Musica Lirica’s International Summer Festival in Italy 2025, where she worked closely with singers and faculty in opera scenes and concerts. In Summer 2026, she will return to the festival in a mentorship role, contributing her expertise in coaching, performance, and collaborative artistry to support emerging professionals.

In Spring and Summer 2025, she expanded her national and international presence through a series of high-profile performances and collaborations. She served as collaborative pianist for the International Women’s Brass Conference in Hartford, Connecticut, supporting recitals, competitions, guest artist performances, and presentations. She was invited by Dr. Bill O’Neil and Dr. Cindy Cripps to perform Dr. O’Neil’s transcription of the Clara Schumann Piano Trio at the Music by Women Festival in Columbus, Mississippi. She also completed a faculty recital tour with performances at the University of Louisville, Miami University, and Indiana State University.

She previously returned to the Bay View Music Festival as Artist in Residence, serving as Assistant Music Director for Beauty and the Beast, coaching the Art Song class, and performing in faculty recitals and chamber music concerts. She was also selected for the Professional Pianist roster at SongFest, a nationally recognized program for emerging collaborative artists.

Her dedication to education and training is further highlighted by her participation in the Varna International Piano Master Class and Concerto Competition in Bulgaria. She also performed at Carnegie Hall as an Apprentice Pianist for Vincerò Academy in a gala concert, showcasing her exceptional talent.

Her operatic credits include Music Director for Opera Scenes at MOSI, pianist-coach for Così fan tutte, and répétiteur for A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Opera NUOVA. She has contributed to productions at Opera in the Ozarks and served as a Resident Artist at Indianapolis Opera, supporting Tosca, Gallantry & Veteran Journeys, and Die Zauberflöte, while engaging in outreach, masterclasses, and educational initiatives.

She has collaborated with numerous international programs, including Opera Lucca, AIMS in Graz, Interlochen Arts Camp, Classical Lyric Arts in Italy, Westminster’s CoOPERAtive Program, Opera NUOVA (Canada), and the Vocal Immersion Program (VIP) in Castleton, Virginia.

She holds both Doctorate and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance with a specialization in Collaborative Piano from the University of North Texas, where she studied under Adam Wodnicki and received multiple scholarships and a graduate assistantship. She also earned a second Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano from Carnegie Mellon University, where she served as opera rehearsal and principal pianist. 

Her commitment to excellence, education, and artistic collaboration continues to shape her impactful career in performance and pedagogy.
