Julie Maurer, mezzo-soprano, has a diverse professional background. She earned her Bachelor of Music specializing in vocal, choral and general music from St. Norbert College. Post baccalaureate, she received the majority of her vocal training with acclaimed soprano, Brygida Bziukiewicz-Kulig. She has taught choral and general music at the K-12th grade level, and voice through the collegiate level. Additionally, she founded and directed an opera advocacy group, the South Shore Youth Opera Ensemble (2002 – 2014). Complementing her position as La Musica Lirica's Director of Artistic Development, she also teaches studio voice and piano, general music at the K4-8th grade level, and serves as the director of music at a Milwaukee area church.
Ms. Maurer has performed locally and internationally with La Musica Lirica, the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus, Great Lakes Opera, Heritage Chorale of Milwaukee, in numerous concerts, and has both taught and directed with the Milwaukee Children's Choir. She is a proud alumna of La Musica Lirica, where she has performed several roles, and been actively involved for years as production manager and assistant to the general director. This program and its life-changing impact mean the world to Ms. Maurer, and she could not be more thrilled to continue her service within the organization.
